It was expected that the Motorola Edge 40 would be unveiled alongside the Edge 40 Pro, however that did not happen. Unofficially, we’ve already seen the phone’s full specifications, and unlike the Pro, it has brand-new hardware. (the Pro is based on the Moto X40).

More significantly, the price—€600—also leaked. That’s simply a leak, of course, but the Pro model will cost €900 as predicted, and the difference of €300 can significantly affect the appeal of each phone.

Introducing “Viva Magenta” as the first of some fresh pictures of the Moto Edge 40. (a hue recently used for the Edge 30 Fusion). The small Pantone emblem on the reverse indicates that Viva Magenta was selected as the 2023 Pantone Color of the Year.

Here are some more colour schemes, all provided by Roland Quandt. All of them, with the exception of the blue one, have a faux leather appearance. Nebula Green, Lunar Blue, and Eclipse Black are the proper names for these hues.

The standard Motorola Edge 40 is expected to be equipped with a Dimensity 8020 processor, 8GB of RAM, 128/256GB of storage, a 6.55″ FHD+ OLED display (20:9, 144Hz), a 50MP main camera (1.0m pixels, f/1.4 aperture, OIS), a 13MP ultra wide module, a 2MP macro camera, as well as a 32MP selfie camera (0.7m, f/2.4).

68W wired TurboPower charging and 15W wireless charging are both supported by the 4,400mAh battery. The IP68 designation for dust and water protection applies to both the imitation leather and acrylic models. The date of Motorola’s official release of this model is one thing we still don’t know.
