Oppo is reportedly leaving several important European countries, including the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and France, in a rather abrupt change of events. The information about Oppo’s impending exit from the UK and Germany first surfaced on the Chinese site 36 Krypton. This was followed by tweets from business sources SnoopyTech and Max Jambor, who also claimed that OnePlus would follow its parent company out of the aforementioned markets. Since then, OnePlus has denied rumours that it is leaving the European market in a formal statement. Oppo has not yet released any formal remarks.

Oppo’s claimed exit from important European markets is thought to be motivated by a string of patent infringement lawsuits against Nokia following the expiration of significant patent deals between the two businesses in 2021. In July 2021, Nokia began a series of litigation against Oppo, and after winning cases in two German courts, the sale of Oppo and OnePlus phones in Germany was prohibited.

Following its legal victory in Germany, Nokia launched patent violation cases against Oppo in Finland, Germany, Sweden, the UK, and the Netherlands, as well as other European and Asian nations. What the future in Europe contains for Oppo and other BBK group businesses is uncertain.
