This is fantastic news for those of you who use Google Fi on Apple iPhones. With the most recent iOS 16.4 software version, the Cupertino smartphones eventually acquired 5G network functionality. Until now, Google Fi customers could only use T-Mobile’s 4G network.
Naturally, in order to link to a 5G network, you must have an iPhone 12 or newer and turn on the “5G Auto” option under Cellular Data Options in the Settings menu.
Since iOS users of Google Fi were only recently permitted to use the built-in VPN capability and eSIM cards, support for new features has been fairly sluggish.
