It’s possible that a Galaxy S series phone will never use a Samsung Exynos 2300 CPU. And since Samsung has invested heavily in the Snapdragon for the Galaxy S23 series, there is very little likelihood that it will come any time soon. The Exynos 2300, however, could continue to function inside the future Google Tensor G3 SoC.
Do you have any idea how that will work? According to recent sources, Samsung is still working on the Exynos 2300. Also, the G3 may well be built on the Exynos 2300 as Samsung produced the previous generation of Google Tensors.
GOOGLE TENSOR G3 IN PIXEL 8 MIGHT BE A MODIFIED EXYNOS 2300
In case you were unaware, Google began utilising unique Tensor SoCs within Pixel phones in 2021. The Pixel 6 series marked the introduction of the G1 Tensor. It’s interesting to note that the Exynos 2100 was changed for the Google Tensor G1. For your information, the Galaxy S21 series in some markets uses the Exynos 2100 chipset.
The Google Tensor G2 in the Pixel 7 has a similar experience. Exynos 2200, which was found in several Galaxy S22 smartphones, served as its foundation. So, the Tensor G3 will undoubtedly be a tweaked Exynos 2300 if Google continues this path. The problem with this is that there is no Exynos 2300.
But as was already revealed, Samsung is still working on the next Exynos processor. Quadra is its codename. The processor may wind up in the Pixel 8 phones, even if Samsung does not introduce it with its Galaxy range. Although the chipset has not yet been released, it is unknown with certainty if Google will make substantial changes.
However Exynos 2300 will undoubtedly be somewhat optimised by Google. If not, the Tensor G3 may struggle to compete with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. And Google would not want it to happen.
WHAT GOOGLE PIXEL 8 SERIES USERS CAN EXPECT
We have already received a report about the Exynos 2300. It indicates that the SoC will include a single Cortex-X3 prime CPU core running at 3.09 GHz. Four Cortex-A715 cores with a 2.65 GHz clock speed will be present. These four cores are for jobs that require fewer resources.
The chipset will also include four Cortex-A510 cores with a 2.1 GHz clock speed. The Xclipse 930 GPU, which is semi-custom, will be found on the GPU side of the Exynos 2300. It will have AMD RDNA 2 architecture as a foundation. The Tensor G3 might operate on the GPU at a speed of up to 1.4 GHz, according to the study.
Now that it has been optimised, Google may work on the Exynos 2300 chipset and give it the moniker Tensor G3. On the other hand, Samsung no longer intends to use Exynos SoCs as its flagship SoCs. Instead, it wants to create its own unique processors, which are expected to appear a few years from now.
How about the Google Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet? They’ll probably have the Tensor G2 SoC, which, as was already revealed, is based on the Exynos 2200. To be precise, the same chipset will be found in the next Google Pixel 7a.
At the Google I/O developer conference in 2023, all of these products are anticipated to be released. It has been scheduled for May. Also, while highly improbable, Google may potentially unveil the Pixel 8 with Tensor G3 at the same time this year.
That saying that, we anticipate finding out more information on the Pixel 8 series and the future Google Tensor G3 before May. Further details on more Pixel devices could also be available. And as always, if any new information becomes available, we’ll let you know.
