While OnePlus is likely working diligently on the forthcoming Nord CE 3, a lower-midrange smartphone that has been the subject of some recent leaks, the company hasn’t forgotten about the original Nord CE, which debuted back in 2021.
The Nord CE is receiving the OxygenOS 13 update from OnePlus today, which is surprising given how outdated and basic this phone is. OxygenOS 13 is built on Android 13. Nevertheless, we’re pleased that it happened.
There is, however, a pretty big caveat at the moment: this update is currently only destined for “GLO” models, which we assume to mean “global”. So specific market versions (like one for India, for example) aren’t included yet. That said, OnePlus reps have promised that another build is coming soon, and that one will be released to multiple regions.
In the meantime, if you have a “GLO” Nord CE, you can start manually checking for updates. The new build is labeled EB2103_11.F.04, and note that this OxygenOS is of the ‘ColorOS by another name’ variety. We’re saying don’t expect anything else, and you won’t be disappointed.
Unsurprisingly, there are a ton of changes in the changelog, such as upgrades to HyperBoost GPA 4.0 to maintain gameplay frame rates and a new Kid Space, as well as improvements to the stability of network conditions. Additionally, you get regular clearing of the clipboard and automatic pixelation for chat images.
