the Samsung Galaxy S23 series introduction behind us, we can turn our attention to the other major Samsung flagship launch of the year: the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5. IceUniverse, a reliable source, revealed some early specifications for the forthcoming foldables.
The bigger external display, which is said to be 3.4 inches diagonally, is the major news for the Z Flip5. If true, it will be bigger than the 3.26-inch screen on the Oppo N2 Flip and will have a claimed 1:1.038 aspect ratio – a nearly perfect square. The interior screen will have narrower bezels and a redesigned waterdrop-style hinge to help conceal the crease.
Moving on to the Galaxy Z Fold5, we now have fresh proof that it will keep its predecessor’s 6.2-inch cover screen. The device will be 0.2mm narrower than its forerunner, but it will also use a droplet-style hinge, similar to the Z Flip5, to conceal the crease and erase the space when closed. Fold5 will be thinner than its forerunner, measuring 13.x mm compressed versus 15.8mm on the Z Fold4. It will also be lightweight, weighing 254 grams.
Both forthcoming foldables will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 for Galaxy processor and will be waterproof to IPX8 standards.
