According to the most recent Counterpoint Research report, which lists the top ten best-selling phones of 2022, Apple and its iPhone lineup had a fantastic year. Eight of the top ten devices were produced by Apple, with the iPhone 13 taking the top position and accounting for 28% of all iPhone sales as well as an estimated 5% of global smartphone sales. Between September 2021 and August 2022, the best-selling phone in the US, UK, China, Germany, and France was the vanilla 13.
With a 2.8% share of all smartphone sales worldwide, the iPhone 13 Pro Max finished in second. The iPhone 14 Pro Max took the lead with 1.7% of sales. Additionally, the 14 Pro Max marks the first time a Pro Max iPhone has outsold its Pro and vanilla siblings in terms of sales.
The iPhone 13 Pro rounded out the top-five ranking as the fourth best-selling phone in 2022, followed by Samsung’s Galaxy A13. The iPhone 14, which is believed to have captured 1.5% of all sales, was the sixth best-selling phone in 2022, behind the iPhone 12, which was released back in October of 2020. The vanilla 12 edition was still incredibly popular in the US, China, and Japan despite its advanced age. The ninth-placed iPhone SE (2022) and tenth-placed Samsung Galaxy A03 are both smartphones.
