The iOS 16.4 release beta for developers, which Apple just released, makes mention of the new AirPods with model code A3048 and the new AirPods cover with model number A2968. These are probably the USB-C variant of the AirPods Pro 2 that were released last year with a Lightning connection, according to renowned analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, and their bulk shipments are anticipated to begin between 2Q23 and 3Q23.

Kuo said nothing else about the AirPods Pro 2’s USB-C variant, so it’s uncertain whether there will be any other hardware modifications or if these will simply be the AirPods Pro 2 packaged in a USB-C charging case.
The AirPods Pro 2 will probably be the first TWS earphones from Apple to transition from Lightning port to USB-C since Kuo claims Apple currently has no plans for USB-C versions of the AirPods 2 and 3. Apple is also anticipated to release the iPhone 15 lineup this year with a USB-C port in place of the Lightning port.
